If you are inbetween sizes and are not sure which size to purchase, there are a couple things to consider to help make your decision. The larger size tends to be more comfortable when kneeling on uneven or rocky surfaces, but the smaller size will feel a little more supportive of your knee. You can also consider the size of your knee and the width of the knee caps. If you have skinny legs, the larger size might be wider than your knee, making it feel more bulky. Generally speaking, if you are inbetwen sizes, either size will be OK.
Fitting Instructions for Career Savers
Please note that Career Savers fit differently than regular knee pads, so I highly recommend going through these simple steps the first time you try to wear them. Career Saver knee caps are designed to be loose fitting for maximum comfort.
1) Sit down, or crouch with your knee bent 90 degrees or more.
2) Adjust both straps so they are at the maximum length.
3) Hold the knee cap against the front of your knee, so the narrow end is down. The bottom (narrow) end should be touching your shin. The top edge of the knee cap should be even with the top of your knee.
4) Connect the bottom strap and shorten it until it to prevents the knee cap from slipping down your leg. DO NOT PULL THE STRAP TIGHT!
5) With the upper elastic strap still disconnected, stand up. The Career Savers knee cap should stay in place on your leg. The top edge should just barely cover your knee cap. (It may feel too low at first, but this is how they are designed to fit.)
6) If they slip down your leg, shorten the lower strap in small increments until they stay in place. If the top edge is sitting well above your knee cap, lengthen the strap to allow it to settle down until the top edge is about even with the top of your knee cap.
7) To test if they are positioned correctly, try to kneel. If your knee lands inside the cap, and the front edge of the cap is in contact with your knee, they are fitting correctly. If the cap sticks out in front of your knee, lengthen the lower strap slightly and try again. It may take a few tries and to get this dialed in.
8) Once the botttom strap is adjusted, connct the upper strap. KEEP THE UPPER STRAP LOOSE! The bottom strap does all the work of holding up the knee caps. The top strap just prevent it from moving around too much when you walk.
When correctly adjusted, the Career Savers knee caps will be loose fitting while also staying in place. If the straps ever feel tight, please review these instructions.
